Not a problem: There is a plumbing system connecting your tear flow with the inside of the nose.  Eyedrops of certain types can be tasted.  Consider that anything approved to be put in the eye will have no toxicity in the rest of the body.  So there is no danger at all in this; don not worry a bout it.

i had gotten a cold of sorts, then pink eye in 1eye, followed by another sore throat. i figured the pink eye was viral but i used antiobiotic eye drops anyway. i used it & the pus had stopped in a few hours. does this mean it was probably bacterial?

: Bacterial conjunctivitis in rare in healthy adults, unless you are a contact lens user.  The pus that you see is normal mucus the eye makes to hold on to aqueous tears.  This is often seen in patients with dry eyes who do not drink sufficient fluids.

Virus v. Allergy: Either of these is a good possibility, the latter far more likely.  See an allergist and get tested.
