can a sinus infection or an ear infection cause neck pain, more specifically, the lymph nodes? is this a normal occurrence?

Yes: Infections in the head, including ear infections, sinus infections, and tooth infections, can lead to swelling of the lymph nodes and pain from the inflammation. They usually take a few days to a few weeks to fully resolve. Please see your doctor if they are especially large and painful - or if your neck hurts when you bend it toward your chest.

i have a fever, white patches on throat. went to urgent care, told its an ear infection& tonsillitis. now, front neck pain- swollen lymph nodes?

What medication: If your immune system is working well, your lymph nodes will often get enlarged and can be painful as it filters out the badness.

You did not state if they determined what specific infection it was (if they determined the cause) and if you are on antibiotics. 
There is a chance the infection can get walled off somewhere near the tonsils and you get an abcess. Meds will help, but ENT may be needed.

Neck pain: You may have tension headache that feels like neck pain and also like headache and earache. 
Neck xray would be normal in that case. It'd be nice to know what you've tried so far for that if you did try something, so we would suggest something else.

Ear infection: It may be an ear infection, but without visualizing the ear drum, no one can tell you for sure.

Maybe: Naming the infection gets a little fuzzy (tonsilitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis).  Most are viral infections that have typical 7-10 day span.  Important to rule out strep (moreso for children) because it is treatable and may have serious effects if not treated. Any inflammation in this tight area can cause lymphoid/tonsil swelling, ear discomfort, soreness. Worst case may be abscess under the tissue

Ear infections: People generally refer to middle ear infections as "ear infections." outer ear infections are also fairly common. When an infection is present infected fluids travel by lymph vessels until they get to lymph nodes in the neck. These lymph nodes can become tender/sore causing neck soreness. Most of the time neck soreness is not present with ear infections.

i have a double ear infection. what could cause this? also, my neck isnt stiff but it hurts a little. is that typical with an ear infection?

Mgt: I would suggest completing  a course of antibiotics. If you have a fever, please see your PCP. 
Sometimes more than one course of antibiotics is needed.
For your neck pain, it may be referred pain, but if it worsens please consult your physician.

Cold air: Not usually. Ear infectionudually result from backing up of mucus from the nose.
