Child ear infections: Ear infections in childhood include middle ear infection or otitis media and external ear infection or otitis externa.  Otitis media occurs when the middle ear is infected by bacteria and/ or virus. via the  eustachian tube. The eustachian tube connects the pharynx to the middle ear.  In young children the tube is short and flat and does not drain well facilitating infection of the middle ear.

Yes but wouldn't: You can fly with an ear infection but there is a significant chance that you will have severe ear pain or rupture of the ear drum on descent.

Anatomy: The quick answer - anatomy. The eustachian tube is more floppy and horizontal in children which prevents adequate drainage and ventilation of the middle ear. Airplanes &amp; ears: Flying with a middle ear infection is safe, but may be uncomfortable with changes in pressure.  When the middle ear space fills with fluid the pressure increases, and there is a small risk of ear drum rupture.  This is not dangerous and usually heals up on its own.

Yes it can but depen (penicillamine): Yes it can but it depends if you are flying long distence or short distance 
you might have to take some medicine like dramamine (dimenhydrinate) etc, so you dont feel nauseous or vomiting
and you better be accompanied by someone who can help you if you still feel dizzy
but if you can avoid it till you are better.

No.: There is pus in the middle ear, the eardrum is stretched tight.  Pressure changes from flying may cause excruciating pain and potential rupture. Flight attendant patient told me they don't let her (nor pilots) work when they have ear or sinus infections. I caught a sinus infection on travel once, ear pain was unbearable, almost made a grown woman cry.
