i had chiari malformation surgery back in oct, 2014 can this be the cause of me having seizures now? i never had them before the surgery.

Chiari Malformation : The Chiari 1 malformation and the empty sella are asymptomatic and not related to the seizures or depression. A neurologist and psychiatrist working together can reduce or eliminate the seizures and depression. There is real hope for her to improve.

Chriari malformation: arnd chiari malformation and hearing loss probably have nothing to do with zofran (ondansetron). There were no studies about zofran (ondansetron) causing malformations.

No relationship.: No, arnold chiari malformation cannot cause meniere's disease. Meniere's disease is an inner ear disorder, whereas a chiari malformation is a brain condition. A chiari malformation occurs when the bottom of the brain (the brainstem) extends below the opening of the skull.

No they are not : Related to each other at all.  However, if experiencing severe secondary symptoms to the arnold-chiari  malformation in terms of GI like nausea and vomiting over an extended period of time it may or with chronic use of Aspirin or other non steroidal anti inflammatory medications to control symptoms like a headache then it is a possibility secondary to their use as well.

Muscle spasms: muscle spasms in the neck from any cause, including arnold chiari can cause ringing in the ears.  The only semi reliable treatment I have found is botox.  Surgery for the Arnold Chiari in my experience makes it worst.

Acquired or congenit: There are both acquired and congenital forms of Chiari. In a 43 yo, it is likely acquired. The acquired form, almost always a Chiari I, may be caused by increased pressure in the head, or more likely the cause will be unknown. Comments: Causes of small fiber neuropathy include diabetes, HIV, lupus, sarcoidosis, B-12 deficiency, Sjogren's, a variety of autoimmune conditions, and perhaps a few hereditary conditions, unreported in literature so far.  There may well be a link with connective tissue disorders, such as Ehlers-Dalos, and some are associated with Chiari.  All can be treated, but you need experienced doc.
