Oxygen: First off, an oxygen level of 93% is generally normal.  Although it needs to be interpreted in the correct context.  Shortness of breath with exertion has many causes such as deconditioning or heart/lung problems.  Maintaining  a healthy weight will help him feel better in all aspects of life.

There : There are many different reasons why you might be experiencing chest pains.  One of the most worrisome reasons patients experience chest pains is that they have a blockage in one or more of their heart arteries.  Atherosclerosis is a disease of the blood vessel where plaque or fatty deposits grow inside the blood vessels and restrict blood flow to the heart muscle.  This typically creates a presure or burning or tightness in the chest area which could radiate to the left shoulder or arm, neck, or jaw.  Often it worsens with exertion and improves with rest.  The most common risk factors leading to these blockages include smoking, diabetes, a close family member with this disease, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure.

If you are 26, of normal weight, a non-smoker, without diabetes or high cholesterol and your parents do not have coronary artery disease, it is quite unlikely that you have this problem.

Much more likely this is due to some other reason.  Stress can cause many symptoms in our bodies such as head aches, upset stomach, and anxious feelings.  Stress can also cause chest pains.

If your symptoms continue or worsen, i would urge you to make contact with your doctor for an appointment to discuss this further.

Mgt: There are many causes of being short of breath.  I would suggest a cardio-pulmonary work up.  Do you have any other symptoms, including cough, rash, swelling?

Compare the feel : Of it to fat elsewhere if it's denser it might be glandular development. Ct  or MRI would be definitive but usually unnecessary.

Time to see doctor: Chest pain means she should go to an ER (safest to call 911 for care and transport to ER). In adults, especially middle-aged 45-60 years, chest pain can be a heart attack (even if it feels like heartburn). If it turns out to be anginal heart pain, costochondritis, myocarditis, anxiety attack symptoms, collapsed lung, or stomach reflux, the ER can help determine the cause and start treatment.

Esophageal spasm?: Could be related to reflux disease and/or a spasm of your esophagus. May need a GI consultation, and some testing. These are rarely dangerous, but getting a diagnosis will at least give you peace of mind. Treatment is possible with medication and even endoscopic or surgical procedures depending on the case. i have costochondritis and i am overweight. when i exercise my chest gets painful. what can i do to decrease the pain? i've tried anti-inflammatories.

Magnesium oil: Transdermal magnesium oil topically on skin can block substance p the mediator of pain. Zinc is also helpful. To lose weight try eating 6 small meals a  day with fresh vegetables, high quality low fat protein like beans or fish, and small amounts of colorful tart fruits. Get a good night sleep, lower stress and move through the day avoiding movements that cause pain.

Best to be sure.: This pain may not be cardiac in origin, but in the context of the initiation of your cardio routine, it would be best to get a treadmill-based stress test, preferably a stress echo, just to be sure.  Better safe, right?
