It depends: It depends on what the doctor visit is for, and whether there are reasons the doctor might wonder about drug use.  The most frequent type of drug test done is through urine, and this would be positive the day after use.

should i tell my doctor i smoke marijuana? i'm having varicocele surgery in 10 days and last smoked 15 days ago. i read it can affect the effects of anesthesia. i just started smoking after a 2 yr break and i've smoked about 5 times in the last month?

: It is always good to tell your Dr everything. Especially if they are putting you to sleep.  Should be no medical hangoverat 15 days but still mention it. Here we always ask.

bipolar meds have so many side effects. wouldn't it be better 2 smoke marijuana as bi polar people tell me they feel better than the meds? is it harmful

Accepted Answer

DONT THINK SO: I have no idea what the long term effects are - possibly including psychosis. The goal should be to have as stable a life as possible and i doubt that pot will do that.
Properly balanced meds and real support can help a whole lot. 
Very hard to live a productive life by being happy and out of it - and depressive and manic phases are most likely to recur anyway.
Not the best solution.

when is it safe to smoke marijuana and drink alcohol again after getting my tonsils out? i have finished all of my medication already. do not tell me "never drink or smoke"; i'm not interested in quitting. please just tell me how long i should wait?

No need to wait: Obviously you should ask the doctor who did the tonsillectomy, or her office. Most likely they&#x27;ll say there&#x27;s no need to wait more than a couple of days after surgery. Swallowing alcohol might continue to be painful for a week or two, but probably it won&#x27;t be harmful (assuming you&#x27;re not getting seriously drunk).

No: Unless you mean you are smoking while penetrating them from behind this will not give you HIV. Must have some form of intimate contact (sex, needle sharing, and so on). Stop having unprotected sex unless you are positive your partner is free of disease (an almost impossible task). Good luck.

More clotting: Marijuana increases production of free radicals, deposits tar and other residue in your lungs and introduces carbon monoxide into your system.  This produces oxidative stress which increases systemic inflammation and can make your blood clot more easily.If you already have this tendency, your are worsening your health and increasing the chances of having a stroke or other clotting disease.

It : It is important that you observe a healthy lifestyle prior to undergoing surgery. Marijuana may affect your respiratory status as well as your tolerance to pain and sedation medication. Also, due to the smoking, your circulation and wound healing can be affected. Do report this habit to your surgeon.

: If you are a regular uses I don't see that these procedures would have any effect on you activities of life. You may not be aware that regular users have a four fold increase in the development of schizophrenia in their lifetime. Whether this allows it to emerge or triggers it in some has not been defined. Thus I can't recommend its use for anyone.

my friend is about to have a surgery on the shoulder is it okay to let him smoke marijuana after?

NO: Post op patients should optimize their general health, with rest, good diet, and avoidance of non prescription drugs. Marijuana does not have analgesic properties, and smoking of any  kind reduces oxygen availability to the repair, and could hurt healing. Good luck to your "friend.".
