Iron deficient: Sometimes, even though eating a high iron diet, the absorption is decreased. Diet= rich in iron- red meat, beans, milk and green leafy veg.
You can try taking ferrous fumarate (Ferrette's on amazon) 325 mg po q day to help with the iron absorption. Retake the serum iron/ferritin in 3-4 months of trial.

Probiotic &amp; Iron: There should be no reason that iron supplements cannot be given at the same time as probiotics.  Adding Vitamin C will help iron absorption.  Probiotics can be given daily in appropriate doses.

i am taking iron supplement 25mg along with women's multivitamin for bone and metabolism support. is t safe to take both whilr ttc?

Look closely: While ttc you should be on  a prenatal which has 1 mg of Folic Acid and 25 mg iron and at least 1, 000 units of vit d3. Check the multiple for these.  It is also wise to take vit k2 100mcg a  day which may be in the multi for bone support.

Possibly: If you are taking a potassium supplement because you are being treated with a diuretic, upon adding losartan, you might not require continuation of the potassium supplement.  Monitor potassium.

Losartan and fruit: Losartan will reduce the presence of aldosterone in your body just a bit - not majorly; aldosterone is the hormone responsible for potassium elimination by the kidney. If your kidney functions are normal or close to normal, then you have very little reason to be concerned; you may eat fruit that contains potassium; if you have diabetes as well, then potassium retention is a larger concern.

Potassium and Cozaar (losartan): The potassium (K) found in losartan (L) is a very minute amount and is not intended to be a K supplement. L does have the ability to elevate serum K levels, so supplementation of K by K chloride tablets may not be needed.

Yes: The iron will be better absorbed if you take it with vitamin c.

Accepted Answer

Vitamins: Yes, you can but there will be interactions. This is one of the issues with multivitamin and mineral preparations and why getting your nutrients from regular food is best. Just one example of interactions: all minerals with a chemical 'double plus' like calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc and copper get absorbed through the same channel and same area of the small intestine. Absorption of one will block.
