Not directly: It can cause a person to alter gait and put increased stress on the knee. Also, this are some arthritis conditions that can cause inflammation of the knee and achilles tendon at the same time.

Knee brace: I would try soft elastic knee brace that you can slide over on your knees.  As well as the same type of ankle brace. But if condition continues, i would have the areas exam.

Yes: Try an elastic type first. That will give you flexibility and allow you to dance with minimal restriction.

Sorry: Sorry to hear that.  Most of those issues like leg length discrepancy can cause that type of pain over time.  Consider orthotics and following up with an orthopedic surgeon

Not usually: Achilles tendonitis will usually cause the affected area to feel warmer.

I don't believe it : Causes hair loss. Also, Achilles tendonitis for the most part occurs closer to the attachment at the heel, as one goes higher in the leg near the calf this tendon becomes the gastrocnemius muscle. If you have pain in the calf region a DVT or clot must be ruled out.

in pt for achilles tendonitis and have been doing a single leg ball toss on a blue foam pad for 3 weeks (6 sessions). it seems that i am not getting any better at it. any ways to improve on balance while not at pt?

Several techniques: Don’t know your age or  other conditions, but if balance is the issue: try placing a wide piece of masking tape for 5 yards on the floor and try to walk close to it, working up to only walking on it. Walk stairs with railing both up and down. Try to ‘feel’ the floor with you feet as you walk. With a spotter who can support you , close eyes and try to stand, then Walk slowly. Use  nightlights!

have had mild intermittent achilles tendonitis on one leg.  now on cipro (ciprofloxacin). any way to avoid an exacerbation? thanks.

Achilles and Cipro (ciprofloxacin): Not everyone aggravates their achilles while on cipro, (ciprofloxacin) but i would personally be cautious. Cipro (ciprofloxacin) can cause problems for 2 weeks longer than you are on it, so i would avoid strenuous activity for 2 weeks after stopping it. Then begin your activities gradually. i am training for marathon. i was diagnosed with achilles tendonitis on the right leg. its been two weeks and my right leg is better but now i have it in my left leg. when to call off the race?

See Podiatrist : For evaluation. Perhaps there is a simple reason why this is occurring and it can be treated.When is marathon? If it is a long tme away, wait until it is evaluated.

is there ever a relationship between leg cramps and achilles tendonitis?

Possible: When you lack of vitamin d, you have tendency to sustain tendon injury, tear induced tendonitis. Insufficient vit d induce calcium metabolism abnormal can induce leg cramp.  This is only one of the possibilities.
