Pelvic infection: While it's possible for e.Coli to cause pelvic inflammatory disease, it has to transmit up the vagina, then the cervix, then the uterus, and through the tubes, before you experience the pain associated with pid. If you're not in severe pain right now, you may just have a vaginal infection that needs to be treated.

Vitamin C "?'s: Vitamin C has some side effects when used as vaginal suppositories, such as burning, itching, but seems to ease vaginal "yeast" infections.  Antibiotic use for bacterial infections can contribute to an increase in yeast (fungal) infections, so there may be some benefits while taking antibiotics in using Vitamin C pessaries.

how do i know if i have a vaginal infection? it's been over 3 years and i've noticed a large amount of a white, slimy, liquid in my underwear. i don't know if it's normal, or a type of infection?

The : The best way to answer this question is to have your doctor do a vaginal wet mount test.  This test requires a swab of vaginal fluid and the doctor looks at it under the microscope.  The ph of the vaginal fluid is also tested.  The test helps to determine if you have bacterial vaginosis, yeast, trichomonas (a sexually transmitted disease), or normal discharge.

Possibly: I would need to know what type of vaginal infection you have. There are all different types of vaginal infections & only some are sexually transmitted. So, you could have a vaginal infection (yeast or bacterial vaginosis) and not have a more serious sexually transmitted infection.

Chronic vaginitis: It appears that you have a chronic vaginal infection caused by the e coli germ which was probably caused by contamination with stool.Antibiotics and proper wiping technique from front to back should be very helpful.

Vaginal infection: You need to see the doctor who can visually check, taken samples for the lab analysis. Then you will have a diagnosis and appropriate treatment can be started. Also if you are sexually active your partner also needs to be checked as well.

Not likely: Staph epidermidis is a normal skin bacteria, infrequenlly causes infections, and is not a known cause of vaginal infection. The main causes of vaginal infection or symptoms (discharge, odor, itching, irritation etc) are yeast, bacterial vaginosis (overgrowth of mostly normal bacteria but not staph epi), and STDs like gonorrhea or chlamydia if at risk.
