Guesses: Over the computer it would be a guess, and most likely, even with a visual inspection, without a definitive history of you seeing the spider, it would be an educated guess.  As described though, it sounds like a spider bite.  Be sure to keep it clean and watch for signs of infection, like increased redness, streaks, warmth, purulent discharge, fevers, etc.  Good luck.

Uncertain.: Spider bites can have variable appearances. It might cause a pink or red bump with no symptoms. Or it could itch or be painful. Venomous spiders may cause  significant pain radiating far from the site, cramping, sweating, necrosis of tissue or worse if there is an allergic reaction.  I think you probably already know what an ingrown hair looks like.

Insect bites: most likely  bu in this case may be infected!  Use an anti-bacterial SOAP and an OTC antibacterial ointment may be helpful!

Med eval: Please, please, please -get this medically checked! it sounds as if it is infected. You may need tetanus. May need debridement. May need antibiotics.

Evaluation: Please clean the wound with antibacterial soap and rinse well with water. The wound should be examined by your pediatrician. A virtual consultation may be performed by HT and a course of antibiotics prescribed as indicated. Watch for signs of worsening, fever and thick drainage. If these occur, please see the urgent care center.

I : I can't diagnose your lesion. You indicated that you thought you saw a fang puncture mark. The brown recluse is actually quite small. It can be a quarter of an inch to a little over  half an inch, so I am not sure that it would leave an obvious fang mark.  I was bitten by a brown recluse about 3 decades ago.  The bite was painless.  A black eschar (scab) quickly formed and the skin around it was white and died quickly.  My arm became markedly swollen, hot and red and i developed a  high fever and muscular skeletal aches throughout my body. I lost a lot of tissue (skin and deeper tissue) from the site. It took  over a week to get rid of my generalized symptoms and several months for my arm to heal in the area that i was bitten. I became quite ill from it.
   Luckily, most people do not have this severe a reaction.   Brown recluse  bites can cause minor reactions or they can in rare cases be deadly.   Hemotoxic venom is injected when they bite.  In one study, over a third of bites led to necrosis (destruction) of the skin surrounding it.   A systemic illness occurred in about 14 % of cases. However, the majority of people have no significant reaction to their bite.
  I don't know if you have a boil or if it is a venoous bite or sting. Spider bites sometimes leave a black scab in the center (called an eschar) and there may lighter, or sloughing skin around that.  If you develop fever, vomiting or a significant amount of skin is sloughing, the area of redness is continuing to grow larger and painful it would be appropriate to have it checked out by a medical provider.
