5yr son had a colonoscopy & removed 1 polyp 15 days ago now he passes stool once in 2 days is it normal?

It would be helpful: ...to know what his bowel pattern was like before the procedure, and whether there are other concerning signs or symptoms present now (e.g. abdominal distension, tenderness, fever, blood in stool). If any doubt, call the physician who performed the colonoscopy, since he knows what was found &amp; what transpired during the scope.

with a stool sample can you tell i if you have polyps?

Accepted Answer

No: A stool sample could have blood, which can be a sign of polyps. But blood in the stool can be caused by a long list of other things. Polyps can only be reliably diagnosed with a colonoscopy.

past week passing mostly flat wide stool but twice passed round stool. if a polyp or tumor present wouldn't all stool be flat?

Not necessarily : The shape of stool wold not reflect tumors in the bowel itself. If you have concerns about tumors, discuss stool blood testing or an endoscopy to allay your fears. Stool shape is more reflective of fiber intake, bowel stimulants or retardants and moisture within the bowel.

i had colonoscopy done in 2016 he did find polyps 5 mm in ascending but everytime i have a bm it be little white things like little balls in my stool?

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining the stool sample. It is not likely to be related to your colonoscopy. If you do not have any symptoms, and your weight has not changed you may ignore it.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

my dad had colonoscopy w/ polyps removed 2 days ago, today his stool was very dark, should he see a dr or urgent care for this?

Blood in stool: could be either red, maroon, or black, depending on location of bleeding.  You should contact the doctor who performed the procedure and ask for his/her advice.

Blood in stool : Is possible to miss a polyp.  However, there are other reasons for blood in your stool. Any troubles with digestion otherwise.

Colon polyp: If they were just benign polyps without dysplasia or carcinoma, you are fine. Do not worry about advanced disease.

It would cause: pain and bleeding. As a result of pain you may develop also constipation as a result of not moving the stool from bowel loosing it's watery content.

Accepted Answer

Hemorrhoids, strain: Constipation or forceful straining with bowel movements without relaxation of the anal sphincter is the most common cause of flattened stools.  A rectal exam should always be done to exclude and anorectal mass.

Accepted Answer

No: Especially if no profuse bleeding. Small amount of rectal bleed is expected after a polyp excisional biopsy.  If stool continues to remain black or  rectal bleeding starts Call the doctor
