Sometimes: The temporomandibular joint is located very close to the inner ear canal and when this joint becomes inflamed and painful sometimes this inflammation can radiate out and i suppose it's possible that it could affect the inner ear where balance is  regulated.

TMJ: TMD/TMJ can cause tinnitus and/or vertigo but not the top 2 symptoms and not necessarily the cause. Suggest you consult both with a dentist who has adequate training and experience treating patients with TMD as well as an ENT specialist.

had vestibular neuritis 7 months ago, it went away but still get vertigo after getting off elevators, also have horrible tmj is vertigo concerning?

See neuro-otologist: Your condition may be as a result of vestibular neuritis or as a result of a condition known as BPPV. A neuro-otologist or neurologist knowledgeable in this type of disorder and how to diagnose it and treat using either an Epley or modified Epley maneuver may entirely zap your symptoms.  I will allow a dentist to tackle your TMJ question as the only thing I know of TMJ is, I DON'T WANT to HAVE IT!

Vertigo: Vertigo is one of many symptoms of TMJ, but there are many other more probable causes. Seek evaluation from a Dentist fluent in TMJ treatment. Don't be surprised if you are referred to an ENT or a Neurologist.

Yes: Your balance is directly related to the functions in your inner ear.  Tmj disorders can be debilitating and compounding it with ear probs could easily leave you dizzy.

Not necessarily.: Not necessarily connected but TMJ pain is often severe that you may experience visual problems and vertigo due to the pain. If you are in severe pain, it would be difficult to focus.

Ear: Great question. TMJ and teeth coming in can occassionally cause this problem but there are many inner ear problems that might as well. Suggest you see an ENT for a full exam including a hearing test

See PCP: There are many causes of vertigo.  Most of the time this is due to viral infection of the inner ear.  However, there are more serious causes and it would be difficult to diagnose without an office visit.  I would see your PCP.

ent did not find anything wrong with ears- now being referred to dentist- my vertigo is worse in the morning; could this all be from tmj. ?

Maybe….: Temporomandibular disorder (tmd) could cause ringing of the ears, usually just one side, and dizziness.  An occlusal evaluation by your dentist can determine if the jaw, teeth , and chewing muscles are all in harmony. A well made occlusal splint worn at night and during daytime when symptomatic should help if the cause is tmd.
