Track weight: Calculation of caloric expenditure is only an approximation. Weighting yourself under similar conditions every day may be more reliable. For example if you weigh yourself at rising in the morning.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

It depends on the: desired rate of loss. Bottom line is that there are about 3,500 calories per pound. It you eat far too few calories - it will actually cause your metabolic rate to slow (bad thing). In general - slower rate of loss is better. AND don't forget about exercise. Take care.

Overestimate: I do believe MANY machines in gyms and online calculators grossly overestimate calories burned. Probably a high quality programmable hear rate monitor is the most accurate.

Wrong approach: Increase your protein intake, not your calorie intake. Increasing calories just makes your fatter, not stronger. The key is strength and resistence training on a regular basis. If you do not do that, you will not gain muscle mass.
