Accepted Answer

Possibilities : Include achilles tendonopathy, partial tear, deep venous thrombosis though would have to be considered. Anytime a dvt. Is a question you need to be examined in person....This is a serious problem if you would have it....See a doctor for correct diagnosis.

had vein ablation on right leg 7 years ago. is it possible to have to have another ? causes? i have a new vein bulge on calf. new dr. ultrasound said yes. should i get second opinion ?

Accepted Answer

: Even after ablation, varicose veins do reappear. This is because varices are due to increased pressure in the veins of the legs. Ablation is not resolving the cause of the problem.

recently when my mum walks a bit  her feet/heels begin to hurt to the point where it's painful to walk. the veins on feet&calf also begin to bulge.

May be a big problem: There are different possible causes for this.  A blood clot in the deep vein needs treatment right away.  So does a problem with the blood supply to the lower leg and foot.  An infection or injury to the muscles can also cause it and needs treatment also.  Go to the nearest ER tonight to start the evaluation and begin appropriate treatment if necessary.

i have 3 bulging discs in l-3-4-5, spinal stenosis and disk degeneration. i have twiching in my calfs off and on, is it caused from my back issues?

Perhaps: Bulging discs in and of themselves do not cause neuropathic or myalgic symptoms unless they compress specific nerves and/or central nervous system structures.  If you already had an MRI, presumably that was ordered by your physician to help assess these symptoms, and having a discussion regarding the results would be appropriate.

May be injured: This sounds like an old injury to the calf muscle which may have resulted in adhesions (scarring) as part of healing.  A new growth must also be ruled out.  A diagnostic ultrasound can be ordered, but an MRI would be more useful.  It needs to be examined.  See a podiatrist, foot/ankle specialist or orthopedist.

Vein bulge: Bulging veins are usually superficial and can be a phelbitis which needs antibiotics, but there is also concern since you are in the bed a lot that there is a deep vein clot( thrombosis) as your calf is tender and  you are sedentary . Clots can move to the lung and compromise breathing  . You need an ultrasound of your entire leg. Go to ER  today .

Calf pain: May warrant an ultrasound to rule out a clot. Risk factors include smoking, obesity and oral contraceptives.

when flexing right calf muscle i can see and feel bulge on bottom of muscle. had since '08. could this be popliteal artery? if no, then what?

Hard to say: Could be a nodule on the tendon, could be an old injury with residual scar. The only real way to tell is to get it checked out. Especially if it has been changing or causing any pain.

Yes: In a young person like yourself, you might want to get a neurosurgery consult.  Atrophy of muscle due to a disc bulge is an indication for surgery.  Pain from a disc can be treated with medication and physical therapy in many cases; muscle atrophy or loss of function cannot.
