Unclear.: No long-term studies have addressed this; minimal-to-moderate caffeine consumption appears to be safe as far as perinatal/pregnancy outcomes are concerned. One cannot be certain what (if any) effects maternal caffeine consumption has on the developing fetal brain or cardiovascular system, however  excessive intake can cause fetal arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat) and jittery neonatal reflexes.

See below: Essentially anything the mother takes in the baby will be exposed to. Caffeine in moderation, as with all things, should be okay. Talk to your OB doctor if you need more information.

Not advise either: Some obstetricians feel that hydrocodone is relatively safe during pregnancy, but in my opinion, best to avoid if possible.  Would not recommend use of Fioricet (acetaminophen butalbital and caffeine) in most patients with migraine, especially pregnancy, as it is in the barbiturate family, and has habituation risk.  Have found that breathing 100% oxygen as needed is useful and safe.  As pregnancy proceeds your headaches should lessen.

Probably none: Caffeine in moderation such as two cups of coffee a day is ok in pregnancy.  The limited studies suggesting a negative relationship between caffeine intake and pregnancy were either done on animals who were given massive amounts of caffeine or on small numbers of actual patients wherre any real relationship was never conclusively shown.

Probably ok.: Have a fetal echocardiogram if baby's fast heart beat persists.

Can be: Symptoms of caffeine overdose may include:
Restlessness, ^ heart rate, palpitations, nausea, vomiting, anxiety, insomnia, ^ sweating, dizziness &amp; cardiac arrest. Possible side effects of caffeine: nervousness, insomnia, restlessness, irritability feeling hyper, ringing in ears, rapid or irregular heart rate, nausea, vomiting, GI upset, shakiness, dizziness or allergic reaction.

Caffeine: If over three cups a day or late at night or if you have anxiety or insomnia.

No: A little bit of caffeine consumed by an older child is probably harmless, but i'd suggest discouraging this habit. Kids who are tired need sleep, not stimulants.

Caffeine: If you meant ibs, as in irritable bowel syndrome, then caffeine in moderation should be ok. If in excess, it can exacerbate ibs symptoms.
