Not scary: Bv in pregnancy is very , very common, and while not ideal as it can cause uterine cramping, it is easily treated and readily improved.  Get it treated but don't lose any sleep over it!

Clindamycin ?'s: There are reports of some abnormalities attributed to clindamycin in the first trimester, so check again with your OB physician, as other studies have not confirmed harm in pregnancy for clindamycin.  There are other antibiotics which have no associated problems in pregnancy, but your OB physician is best suited to make this decision.

i am 8 weeks pregnant and bv did not clear with oral metronidazole. the doctor now prescribed vaginal clindamycin. i am worried about taking this in the first trimester as i read it could cause birth defects. is that true?

: Clindamycin is safe in pregnancy, especially vaginally. And of course your Ob would not have prescribed it otherwise.

Usually nothing.: A lot of women are deficient in Folic Acid and have normal pregnancies and deliveries, however Folic Acid has been proven to prevent preterm birth, open neural tube defects and cardiac anomalies in the fetus. Take 1-5 mg daily for your whole reproductive life!

is it normal to be extrememly nauseous and dizzy in your first trimester? like to the point i don't want to get up?

First trimester woes: The first trimester can feel awful. Nausea can come any time of the day, not just in the morning. Contact your doctor if you cannot eat or drink anything. Try to sip on liquids with calories. Avoid things with oranges, lemons, limes, tomatoes, or other citrus stuff. Think bland! most women in their first trimester are also extremely exhausted. This gets better between 12 and 15 weeks.

why do i worry so much about misscarriage in the first trimester when i have never had a miscarriage before? i can't stop! i have had 2 healthy babies.

I suspect: Some worrying is normal, but it sounds like you are worrying to the point where it is interfering with your normal life. If you are pregnant now i'd suggest talking with your OB about it when you next see him/her; you would probably find talking with a counselor or psychologist/iatrist helps too. Hope you feel better.

"Morning sickness" ?: Sustained vomiting over the course of the day even in the first trimester may deplete the pregnancy (and yourself !) of essential fluids and nutrients (dehydration, vitamin depletion, etc.). See your OB physician if this continues.

Very accurate: Ultrasounds tend to get more inaccurate as your pregnancy progresses.  First trimester ultrasounds are more accurate than second trimester ultrasounds, which are in turn more accurate than third trimester ultrasounds.  First trimester ultrasounds can reliably predict gestational age within 5-7 days.
