However, condoms may help prevent new episodes. BV is definitely transmitted sexually in lesbians who share vaginal fluids via fingers, sex toys, etc. It definitely is not contagious by nonsexual contact, e.g. shared bathroom.

Unlikely: See a gynecologist and get this worked out.  Your bf may also have to apply antibiotic cream or ointment to his penis as there is evidence that he can give this back to you through sex even after you have been treated.
