I've had bv on and off for almost 8 months now. i've taken everything under the sun. is it possible that my boyfriend needs to be treated?

Recheck/culture: I would be logical for both of you to be cultured for STDs and take medication for BV. It is uncommon to see this infection persist for 8 months.

At this point, yes: I would have the GYN do a culture of the vaginal wall to make sure of the bacterial infection and to determine sensitivities. Sometimes women have infections such as e-coli or strep and not just the typical BV gardenerella. I have treated partners when the infection was difficult to eradicate - it might be worthwhile if the only bacteria is gardenerella.
