Give it more time: The first day you start bleeding is day #1 of your cycle. Most women ovulate around days 14-16 (you may use an otc ovulation predictor kit to determine the day). During cycle days 10-20, have sex everyday or every other day to maximize your chances. 50% of couple are pregnant within 6 months and 85% within 12 months.  Properly treated bacterial vaginitis should not keep you from getting pregnant.

Usually continuous: Usually all the time, but it could be intermittent. The main symptom of BV is strong vaginal odor, often fishy, often more prominent after sex. Any new, changed, or abnormal dishcarge should be professionally evaluated, so see your doctor soon. Good luck!

: This is a much more common problem than you might think! Approaches vary, mine is to treat both at the same time with a combination of metronidazole and fluconazole. Prevention is key. Probiotics can be helpful, but I find wearing breathable, cotton underwear, good hygiene, and be careful with scented soaps, lubricants, chemicals or other irritants most helpful. Always important to get checked!

Recurrent BV: You don't say what Rx's you were previously treated with or by what type of MD. Recurrent vaginal bacterial vaginitis is usually a function of improper treatment, reintroduction by sexual activity, or a vaginal pH (acidity/alkalinity scale) that is altered by vaginal agents/products. Have your GYN MD do a bacterial culture to determine the type of bacteria to be treated for accurate Rx.

Not recommended: Generally douching doesn't work very well to cure a bacterial vaginosis infection.  And studies show that women who douche double their chance of getting bacterial vaginosis infections.  Likely this is because douching can disturb the normal bacteria that live in the vagina.  The presence of your normal bacteria helps prevent vaginal infections.
