Possibilities include anxiety or reaction to certain substances,spices,supplements,hormonal swings or medications. The vitamin Niacin, is a cause. Some people react to certain wines,for example. Try to think of any possible trigger. Eliminate spices,etc. If no results, your MD will investigate

Hhmmm: Not very much comes to mind that can cause burning all over the body.  Some physicians might right this off as a psychiatric diagnosis.  So you may want to give a careful review of all symptoms and problems you may have.  For burning all over i would look for inflammation, toxins or neurologic issues at the level of the brain that would affect your perception body wide.

Peripheral neuropath: Peripheral neuropathy refers to damaged sensory nerves caused by diabetes, vitamin deficiency, physical trauma, consequence of shingles, etc. Go see your doctor for evaluation & appropriate treatment. Sometimes we use older antidepressants like Amitriptyline (lots of side effects in elderly), epilepsy drugs like Gabapentin & pregabalin, pepper compound (capsaicin), numbing agent (lidocaine) etc.

Atypical symptom: Burning in such a large area of your body is atypical. I am not sure of the cause but if it is central nervous system related it has to be coming from right side of the brain possibly thalamus. This however extremely rare and very unlikely. Most likely there is some other non nervous system related explanation.

Many things can cause the feeling of numbness and tingling, including sitting with your legs crossed or falling asleep on your arm. If numbness and tingling persist and there’s no obvious cause for the sensations, it could be a symptom of a disease or injury.

Focal symptoms: Could be a migraine aura, possible transient cerebral ischemia, a focal sensory seizure, and if left arm only, maybe cardiac issue.  Sometimes following certain strokes, a focal pain issue with ensue.  A focal process in neck could result in unilateral issues in arm and leg.  Best to get such problems examined and diagnosed.

Yes... but: Anxiety can cause a sensation of burning skin by triggering the 'fight or flight' response. However there are medical conditions that can cause a sensation of burning skin. Do see your pcp to rule this out before saying it's all from anxiety. Best wishes.

what would cause sudden and short lived intense burning sensation on one whole side of the body( including face) for less than one minute? ( the morning after pill was taken a day beforehand) this wouldn't be symptoms of a stroke, right?

: Very unlikely for a stroke to affect burning sensation on only one side of body including face.  Your body is talking to you. Listen and take good notes and share with your Dr.
