Thigh sprain!: This sounds like a pulled muscle. Try gentle stretching, light activity, heat, and anti-inflammatories. Don't get discooutraged, this may take a while.  If it gets worse, doesn't improve, radiates down the leg, or is accompanied by weakness or numbness, she should be seen.

Meralgia Paresthetic: I actually didn't have room in the SUMMARY above to add the last letter of "a" to the name of what I wanted to write.  So, Meralgia Paresthetica is a condition where the femoral nerve is trapped at the level of where it enters the thigh. Numbness and burning sensations can arise. Often it is on both sides but can be only on one. See your doctor and if appropriate a neurologist.

Nerve pain?: Strange pains or odd sensations can be due to nerves being irritated. Symptoms vary a lot from person to person, so a primary care doctor can evaluate to see what is going on. Thigh pains can be from the thigh itself, or can come from inside the hip or the nerves coming out of the spine. Armpit pains sometimes are from skin rashes or skin irritations there.

Not exactly: Classically siatica goes from buttocks to leg down the back this may be nerve compression but a different nerve root from your description sounds like L3  or L4  or other peripheral nerves femoral obturator, siatica feels like this but in different part of leg classically

There : There are several possibilities.
1.  Vascular pain-this could be arterial, which is from limited flow of blood because of atherosclerosis of the arteries, or narrowing of the arteries.  This pain is usually worse with walking.  It could also be venous, like a blood clot, but that pain is usually in one leg.
2.  It could be nerve pain, such as a neuropathy of the nerves.  
3.  You could have an electrolyte imbalance, such as potassium.  A low potassium can cause muscle pain. 
4.  It could be myopathy, or muscle pain.
Write down all of your symptoms, what makes the pain worse or better, and see your doctor for an appropriate diagnosis.  If you have worsening pain, swelling, fever, redness, or any new symptoms then you must go to the er.

Nerve: Several superficial cutaneous nerves in the thigh.  The pattern suggests a nerve being injured.  Would give it time to heal.
