Neuropathy: It sounds like neuropathythere is a nerve that inervates the dorsal foot and branches to the medial aspect of the big toe. Try vitamin B, and or a non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as Naprosyn ofr Motrin.Also examine your shoe gear to determin if your shoes are too tight and are putting pressure on the nerve.

Chronic anke: How old are you &amp; did you have any trauma recently? Any excessive exercise or venous insufficiency? Audible pops usually are from a pulled tendon or ligament like Achilles tendon. Consult with us to see if you need to get an MRI.

Try to avoid standing as much as possible and when you do sit to elevate your lower extremity. Make sure your not wearing tight shoes. The problem you describe is pressure on the nerve which causes the discomfort.

Some how the soft tissue surrounding the tendons in the area have been injured and are now inflamed. Rest, moist heat and possibly some ANSAIDs (flurbiprofen) may be the ticket. Of course, you need to think of the possible reasons that the foot would react this way and stop that activity.
