Neuropathy: It sounds like neuropathythere is a nerve that inervates the dorsal foot and branches to the medial aspect of the big toe. Try vitamin B, and or a non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as Naprosyn ofr Motrin. Also examine your shoe gear to determin if your shoes are too tight and are putting pressure on the nerve.

Nerve pain: If the pain is reproducible and persistent with certain movement of a joint, as you've mentioned in your question, it could be an isolated nerve damage. If the pain is random and non-reproducible with the joint range of motion, it could be a beginning stage of peripheral neuropathy.

Nerve problem: These type of symptoms are usually associated to irritating a nerve. If you were to tap on the nerve you can usually reproduce the symptoms. Obvious treatment, do not irritate the nerve. There are a few ways in doing so. Not comfortable trying to treat over internet.
