Possible a nerve: Extremity nerve compression problems, tendinits or knee problems could cause your symptoms. More likley the burning down the leg could be from sciatica.  Sciatica is due to low back issues such as arthritis or disc herniation compressing the sciatic nerve/branches. If symptoms persist or you develop any weakness/paralysis in your lower extremities then seek attention immediately in an er.

Unlikely: That diagnosis is very unlikely given your symptoms.

RATHER UNLIKELY: Possible that you could suffer from peripheral nerve issues, such as carpal tunnel syndrome and/or tarsal tunnel syndrome.  Underlying metabolic issues may be contributory.  Anxiety and shallow breathing are a separate issue, but all needs to be evaluated.  See your doctor.

May not be migraine: Migraines can sometimes cause neurologic symptoms in other parts of the body that can mimic a mini-stroke (TIA). But it's important to rule out more dangerous causes like aneurysm or tumor. CT or MRI of the brain, and possibly a CTA or MRA to look for aneurysms, is probably needed. See a doctor as soon as possible.

Concern is infection: First concern is infection- would make sure it is not warm or significantly red- if so you need to see your physician for possible antibiotics,  nerve issues can also contribute f you are a diabetic.  Ok to wait it out if there are no true signs of infection.

Tarsal tunnel syndr: If it is on the inner aspect of the ankle it could be tarsal tunnel syndrome..Much like one gets in the wrist.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining you and your symptoms warrant evaluation by a physician. What you described suggests an infection and may require antibiotic treatment.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. 
Get HPV vaccine, if you are under 27 years of age.

i have a burning sensation in my left knee which radiates down my medial lower leg. how do i treat it?

May in fact: be your BACK ..that is a pinched nerve between the 4th and 5th LUMBAR vertebrae.....You should discuss with your Primary Care  (G.P etc) who may decide to obtain advanced imaging of your spine  ( eg: MRI)  Just a thought...hope it is helpful!
