i have tinea versicolor it appears as a raised rash using shampoo but drying my skin out terribly is this normal. feels like a burn healing skin tight?

Normal: Yes, topical anti-fungals are quite astringent and will dry your skin out. Using a moisturiser should help but if it doesn't then speaking to the chemist about an alternative brand of anti-fungal shampoo is an option. Try showering with slightly less hot water as this dries skin out. If it is still a problem, it is possible to take anti fungal tablets but these also have side effects.

how can i tell if a second degree burn is healing?

Burn healing: Second degree burns are painful and wet.  The signs of healing are "buds" of new epithelium that come from deeper glands or hair follicles that were not damaged from the burn.  These appear like red islands that coalesce with time.  Full thickness burns damage these deeper structures and thus will not show signs of healing and require skin grafting to replace the damaged skin.

Should return: never use Nair on your private parts. You have suffered a chemical burn and hopefully skin will heal.

Clinical judgement: Any burn, thermal, chemical or electrical has degrees depending on depth of involvement. In simplest terms, 1st degree (superficial) will heal rapidly (7-10 days), 2nd degree (into dermis) can heal without scarring (10-14 days) if uncomplicated, 3rd-4th degree (deepest) usually grafting is needed. If your burn is 3 months old and not yet healed, see a plastic surgeon for advice.

TOOTHpaste: It is all in the name. The toothpaste may have caused a chemical burn in the area. In the future, use products made for the skin and keep the toothpaste in your mouth. Consult with a dermatologist regarding any blemish that may remain.

Burn Wound: Silvadene (silver sulfadiazine) cream is  used with other treatments to help prevent and treat wound infections in patients with burns. Silver sulfadiazine works by stopping the growth of bacteria that may infect an open wound. This helps to decrease the risk of the bacteria spreading to surrounding skin, or to the blood where it can cause a serious blood infection (sepsis).

my burn wounds are healing using triple antibiotic but now they're itchy. what can i use to help with the itchiness?

Aloe sap: I would not be concerned about a little discomfort. However, aloe vera needs to be almost pure to provide healing for burns. So, use aloe vera sap directly from the plant - most products don't have a high enough aloe content.

Burn healing.: I am happy to hear that your burn has been healing. Using aloe vera can help to accelerate healing of burn wounds. However, it must be fairly undiluted to be effective.
