Not dependent on hr: not a bit no. For that matter diet pills that induce significant weight loss do not significantly raise metabolism. ( I try for 1000 calories out per day; studies showing m a y b e a tenth of that with drug induced metabolic effects are what I mean by NOT significant).
but changing thoughts/ behaviors help.

Sitting in one place for more than one hour is unhealthy. So keep your body in motion as much as you can. . If you walk in the shoping areas, park farther away and walk to work and go up steps instead of riding elevators, you will burn calories.

  Instead of concerning yourself with best calorie burning foods; A different approach-- a healthy food plan coupled with exercise. I find an abundance of fruits and vegetables, frequent portions of fish like tuna and salmon (high in omega-3 fatty acids). Lastly smaller portions of lean beef, chicken and grains. Coupled with quick walking or bicycling to inc. metabolism. No fats or carbs
