Taste buds: Likely what you are noticing are your taste buds and possibly some lymph gland tissue (tonsil ) which is normally there. Often they will look like suction cups with stalks holding them up. Normal stuff - not to worry. If you see red/white spots on back of throat, then see MD as it may be strep. Look online for pic of taste buds at back of tongue.

i have puss on tonceles and large bumps on back of tongue and throat but don't hurt. do u know what could be wrong?

Probably normal: If you do not have pain and no fever then this may be normal. All of our tongues have bumps on the back of them and just maybe you never noticed them. The tonsils can collect debris and dead cells that slough off and these can collect as small white plugs in the tonsil itself. If there is no pain it is unlikely that you have an infection.

Inflamation: It is not uncommon to have red bumps on the back of tongue.  However redness and bumps on the tongue and throat means inflammation.  It could be from post-nasal drainage to acid reflex.  If it last longer than a week, go to your md.  Throat irritation from acid reflex can lead to serious complications including cancer.

had mono test came back negative. scared it's hiv because soar throat. also have bumps on back of tongue doc said it's my taste buds inflamed.

Sore throat: You can have a sore throat from many causes, including mono, strept throat and cold, and other viruses. But if you worry that you are at risk for HIV, perhaps you can ask your doctor to test for it so you can have peace of mind, and not be scared if you don't have it.

See your MD: You need to be sure it is not strep throat.
See your MD a rapid test can be done to rule it out and if needed antibiotics can be prescribed at the same time

Pharyngitis: The red spots make me think it is viral.  The white spots on the tonsils could be small tonsil stones, but it could be strep too.  With no pain, i doubt it is strep.  If symptoms worsen, see a doctor.

my throat is sore but not in major pain.  there's bumps on the back of my tongue near my tonsils. what is this?

We all have: Lumps on the back of our tongue. They are called papilla and usually are not noticeable except when inflamed/irritated.  Your throat areas sound sore/irritated and the relationship to these newly noted "lumps" is easy to correlate. See your pcp for a look at your throat and to check your cough.  It would be rare if the lumps are not these papilla. Hope you feel better soon!

Probably not.: Bumps in these two areas are usually normal anatomy, however i cannot see your bumps and so i would recommend seeing a dentist or physician and let them examine them and tell you what they are.

Want to know: What you are seeing may be normal anatomy. On the other hand, may be sign of a serious problem. Rule of thumb is that any pain and/or swelling and/or bleeding should be immediately examined. Please schedule an appointment with a local Dentist. Explain your concerns. Let an expert examine you and give you a knowledgeable answer.

i have 6-8 flesh colored bumps on the back of my throat and that also extend down my throat (i can see by depressing my tongue). no pain. thoughts?

Sounds normal: This sounds like the normal appearance of a human tongue. If your concerned however, see your primary care provide for an exam. Only south can be  determined in a forum like this. Hope this helps!
