Abscess: It is probably an abscess.  Sometimes these will settle by themselves, sometimes they need antibiotics, sometimes they need to be cut open to let pus out.  
If it is quite painful it's probably time to see a doctor

: There are many possible causes-it could be a lymph node or a small skin abscess, among other things. This warrants getting checked by your doctor because the soreness could indicate a problem. See doctor: What you described suggests an infection of a lymph gland or hair follicle or both. It would be prudent to see a doctor before it gets worse.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

It could be something as simple as a cyst (fluid filled lesion), swollen lymph node, abscess(infection) or a lipoma (fat filled lesion). There are 3 common: causes of bumps in the axillary (armpit) area.  One is a clogged sweat gland.  Another is an enlarged lymph node (lymphadenopathy). A third is an abscess in the hair follicle (folliculitis or furuncle).
