Anything is possible: But if the child has been in any area where there may be deer ticks they should be treated for lyme disease without waiting for serologic confirmation.

No.: It is not really a disease per se. It is a variant of normal.  To prevent yellowing avoid those things that you know will cause the problem.  Sometimes it is hard to predict but some medications, foods, stress, illness will cause more red blood cells to break down then cause yellowing.

There are some inherited diseases that cause uveal problems and melanoma can arise in the uvea.

Inflammation usually affects the iris / ciliary body, and causes redness, aching pain, light sensitivity, blurred vision, and floaters. It can be vision threatening if not treated, and should be treated by an ophthalmologist. There are many causes, mostly immune in nature, but some from infections.

Not yet: Improvements are being made in treatment and the current popular which you can discuss with your corneal specialist is riboflavin treatment which helps stabilize the apparently loose connections of the protein composition in this condition. I am sure more work will eventually discover the cause but not quite yet.

Best Disease: is an inherited disorder affecting the central retina.  It causes mild to moderate loss of vision.  There is no known effective treatment.  Google it  to learn more.
