Not yet: Improvements are being made in treatment and the current popular which you can discuss with your corneal specialist is riboflavin treatment which helps stabilize the apparently loose connections of the protein composition in this condition. I am sure more work will eventually discover the cause but not quite yet.

Keratoconus: Keratoconus is a corneal disorder where the cornea (the clear dome on the front of the eye) becomes distorted and cone-like over the years. There is usually progressively increasing astigmatism and nearsightedness, eventually leading to worsening distortion. Rigid contact lenses, glasses, and sometimes corneal transplant surgery can treat the condition.
