Trauma: Best to to see a doctor for an x-ray to make sure you didn't crack your finger. Meanwhile ice it as much as you can. Best wishes

how long until redness of large local reaction from bug bite fades after swelling is gone?

Variable: As long as the swelling does not represent an abscess, the redness should resolve within 7-10 days. Avoid scratching it. Keep it clean and apply a 1% hydrocortisone cream. If the area becomes painful or hot or is enlarging in size think of infection and see your doctor about an antibiotic or drainage.

my 3 yo got a bug bite a week ago. all that's left is two small red dots flush to the skin. should i be concerned? no redness around them.

Bug Bites: Although bug bites can be dramatic and even hurt when you get bit, most heal well as you describe.  You have looked for all the concerns  that would signal an infection, like surrounding redness or swelling.  It appears that this is healing well and it may take some time for the small red dots to completely resolve.

Can't tell: Many bug bites give a similar reaction and thus there is no way to guess what that may be. If you live in tick-infested area, be sure that it is not from Lyme disease. See your doctor if you wish to find out.

i have an infected bug bite. i am on two different anti biotics and the redness was my doctors main concern. the redness is going down but the bite is?

Infected bug bite: Try moist heat to the infected area with a wet washcloth as hot as you can stand it covered with plastic wrap to hold in the heat and changed when it cools. Be sure to continue and complete all of your antibiotics and follow up with your doctor if it seems to be getting worse, instead of better.

i got a bug bite last night and this morning my eye was half shut.  theres really no redness or irritation, no pain at all  do i need to see a dr.?

Wait and see: Try cool compresses.  Sometimes an antihistamine will help.  Expect it will settle down within a day or so.

i've had reoccurring little welt on my shoulder. looks like a bug bite. but comes and goes. it's itchy but has no center or flaky skin. no redness either. just a itchy welt ?

Itchy spot: Could be many things as need a picture perhaps. Best to get examination. Could be eczema for a an example

See your doctor: If it is not infected, it will get better in a few days. But it can be very difficult to tell if it is infected or just inflamed, so it would be best to see your doctor. Eyelid infections can be very serious- can spread to the eye- so they should be checked.

Pus or Abscess?: Until your doctor examines you this 'bite' should be considered a potential staph infection. It is an urgent problem if there is pus or abscess in the lesion.

Lymphangitis: Streaking indicates infection may have spread beyond the tissue initially affected.  This can be serious, and medical evaluation is warranted!
