i was wondering what do i do about my hip bruise after falling down the stairs?

Bruise: If you have significant pain and difficulty of walking/standing, you might need to be evaluated for hip fracture. If no fracture is found, you can take NSAIDs for pain and inflammation. Icing should help with swelling and stop bruising from getting worse. You should follow up with your doctor for any persistent pain, swelling, shortness of breath or any other new symptoms.

badly bruised hip after falling directly on it playing basketball. am icing daily, nsaids & epsom salt baths. what else to help it heal best & fast?

If still: Ambulatory then activity as tolerated.  If severe pain with walking may want to consider an x-ray of the hip and pelvis.

i have either a bruised or fractured rib after falling off my bike  i have an icd  fitted that seems ok i am going on a walking holiday do i need x-ra?

Get Checked out: There isn't much to do for a bruised or fractured rib other than pain control (tylenol, ice, etc) and continuing to take deep breaths to keep your lungs expanded, but you should make sure the icd is working and the leads or generator haven't fractured.

Yes: Although the kidneys are protected by strong back muscles and the ribs.  It would take a severe injury to cause hemorrhage to the kidney.  Pain is likely coming from the muscles in your back.  If you blood in your urine or pain persists, see your doctor.

Bruised or broken: It could be bruised or fractured.  Usually not much to do.  Try a donut pillow.

Need Xrays.: As my old professor used to say, "we doctors don't have xray vision!" you'll need to get some xrays to make sure you haven't broken anything.

Could take a while: Numbness over an area of injury is caused by damage to the small nerves that supply sensation to the skin.  This can take a few months to resolve, in some cases it can be permanent . Hope you feel better!

Yes: Nails will grow back if the nail matrix is intact. It will take about 4 months for a new and normal nail to grow back.

i am trying to figure out why my left butt cheek has been bruised for about 5 days with no falls or injuries?

: A bruise (ecchymosis) can spontaneously occur on any part of the extremities or trunk without injury. If the size has not changed over 5 days, no tenderness on palpation and the color is now turning into yellowish green then you have nothing to worry. However, if the bruise progressively increases the size &amp; the outer margin is still purplish red then you may see a doctor for a proper assessment.

my son is 2 and falls and get bumps and bruises. there is one bruise on his leg that i feel like just hasn't gone away. should i worry?

Bums and bruises: Two year ols are constantly falling as they become more adept at walking and running. They get bruises as you have noted. If you are concerned about one bruise put some cold compresses on it to reduce the swelling.
