Accepted Answer

Lips: Bruised lips may discolor, looking like a black and blue mark, or it can look like a fever blister.  Call either your Dentist or Physician to examine your lesion and to prescribe the appropriate treatment.

i was hit on my face causing bruising and swelling, but after healing a stone like object remains in my lip.  how can it be removed ?

See Oral Surgeon: Most likely it is scar tissue and may resolve over time. Best to see the Oral Surgeon to have it evaluated and talk about any treatment options. Good Luck.

Time: You need time to heal. The other issues have little value at this point.

does the use of heat for treatment of general bruises/contusions the same as the use of it for treatment of "head" bruises/contusions or different?

Accepted Answer

Same: The principles are the same if you're referring to scalp contusions and not brain injuries. Of course with head injuries you have to be on the lookout for worsening headaches, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, confusion, etc which would raise the suspicion of associated brain injury.

i fell and hit my head 16 days ago which caused a large goose egg. will sunshine help with the healing process of the bruising, pain, and goose egg?

: Fine to get sunshine, as will enhance and support your Vitamin D levels, but will not speed resolution of your "goose egg".  The  bruising will respond to initially local cold packs, and later, warmth to ease the swelling and pain.

i have a bruised look on the top of my mouth. my wisdom teeth are coming through so i'm in a bit of pain. do i need any treatment?

Evaluation: You may or may not need treatment.  The only way to be sure is to be examined, something we cannot do for you in this forum.  Best advice is to see a wisdom tooth expert, a specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, for examination and recommendations.  You'll be glad you did.

: Should be back to normal over next 7-10 days at most.

Yes: Yes. Can be minimized by staying away from alcohol and blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen, etc) for a week before injection. And ice/pressure immediately after. injection.

Accepted Answer

No cure : Time will heal a bruise. Underlying factors. 1) how long ago was the accident? 2) did you go to the hospital? To keep swelling down, ice packs initially can be applied. Over the counter anti inflammatories or arnica montana. Vitamin k, a and c and bilberry extract can help. See  your dentist to make sure some of the swelling is not coming from your teeth as trauma can devitalize them.

boyfriend bit my lip wicked hard and bruised it. how do i treat this?

Accepted Answer

Ice: If your lip is swollen try to ice it, 20 minutes on & then off.  If it is bruised he may have broke a blood vessel.  This may or may not go away.  You sould see your dentist to check.
