Increased : Increased bruising as you age can be a common problem.  It is due to thinning skin and aging blood vessels and usually does not require treatment.  Occasionally it can be a sign of an underlying disorder.

Reasons to see your doctor are:

- if you are not elderly
- if your bruising seems to be worsening
- if your bruises are large, painful, or seem to appear without cause
- if you are bleeding from other areas such as your gums, nose, or gut
- if you just started a new medication since many such as Plavix (clopidogrel) or Aspirin can increase bruising
- if you have a fever and are feeling ill

i have a bruise that just appeared on my lower right abdomen - no trauma.  i know i have a bad gall bladder. could they be related?

Probably not: Your gall bladder in in the right upper quadrant.  You should be seen to determine if it is anything serious.

i had my gall bladder removed laprascopically last tuesday.  i'm not in pain but have some bruising below my belly button.  is this normal?

Bruising: Hi ESen, the bruising is likely normal.  It is likely from manipulation of the different tissues and organs inside your abdomen that resulted in some minimal bleeding.  If the bruising continues to worsen, or you develop abdominal pain, distention, or tenseness, you should follow up with your surgeon immediately.

Possible answer: This might be urticaria pigmentosa; could be infection. Needs to be seen by physician to make a diagnosis.

it's been 24 days since my stent removal from a stone and i'm still having pain in my bladder and when i urinate. the urologist said no infection but my bladder he said it was bruised. does it take this long for a bruised bladder to heal?

: With a ureteral stent secondary to a stone, the removal is usually accompanied by some irritation,  for 24-48 hours. Pain when urinating may be from scarring subsequent to prior infection. Suggest getting a "second opinion" from another urologist.

my xiphoid process is very tender to the touch. been that way for a year or so. there has been no impact, gal bladder or any other issues! whats wrong?

Costochondritis?: Could just be an inflammatory process of unknown cause that is responsible for your symptoms. Ask your doctor if a course of anti-inflammatory medication is appropriate. It doesn't sound dangerous. Also, make sure to get a good physical exam from your doctor as well. Hope this helps!

Not Normal: No it s not normal and you also have pain and tenderness over the bladder
I wil; advice to get it checked if it persists as you may have an infection

Retaining urine: results in stretching of the bladder and compression of surrounding tissues. This commonly causes pain that is relieved by emptying the bladder. It is not unusual for there to be some tenderness of the area later due to inflammation. Try to avoid retaining urine which increases the risk of infections and can cause more serious problems.

Bladder pain: I recommend you see a doctor who can examine you and check your urine.   In the meantime, be sure to increase your water intake a bit so that you urinate at least every two hours while awake.
