dental experts! what does it mean if i have a bruise around a tick bite?

Dental?!? : Ticks don't have teeth! a "bruise" around a tick "bite" could be the initial inflammatory reaction from a deer tick that is infected with lyme disease. Not every bite results in you will develop lyme disease. Speak to your physician about the symptoms and current guidelines for treatment.

: A bruise or hematoma appears likely on description and that will be consistent with trauma. A coincident insect bite cannot be ruled out, but usually appearance is different.

No,you are having an: allergic reaction to the ticks saliva. Put hydrocortisone cream on it. It should get better in next few days. If it does not,see your Dr. If the tick was not attached for 24 hrs, little chance of lyme disease.

 inflammation; an expanding, red area of tenderness can be cellulitis (a skin infection, often caused by staph bacteria). If it is worsening or you develop a fever, please seek medical attention for proper evaluation and treatment.

Avoid contact: Try to avoid places where the likelyhood of encountering ticks is high ( wooden areas) if this is not feasible, wear long sleeves, avoid shorts when going to the woods or use  a tick repellent.

Tick bite: Before seeking medical attention, you should note the appearance and characteristics of the tick and remove it with fine tweezers, being careful not to rupture the abdomen (if engorged). If bitten by a deer tick, your doctor will either observe and treat if symptoms/signs of disease develop or treat immediately with preventive antibiotics.
