Tick bite: Before seeking medical attention, you should note the appearance and characteristics of the tick and remove it with fine tweezers, being careful not to rupture the abdomen (if engorged). If bitten by a deer tick, your doctor will either observe and treat if symptoms/signs of disease develop or treat immediately with preventive antibiotics.

Tick Bites: 1 apply an ice pack to the bite to decrease pain and swelling. 2 don't scratch the bite or the area around the bite. 3 use a local anesthetic to reduce and itching. 4 take antibiotics or an antihistamine if your doctor so instructs.

Doxycycline: A single dose 200mg Doxycycline or Minocycline within 2 days will prevent lyme disease. If not a dear tick or if removed before it begins feeding (1-2 days) there will also be no lyme. I give people a supply of med so they can use it if an embedded tick is discovered.

Tick bite: After safe removal of tick, wash hands & wound with soap & hot water. Can relieve pain by use of ice pack. Garlic can be eaten or applied to wound to hasten healing. Tea tree oil relieves itching. Seek medical attention if you develop bullseye (red circle), rash, fever or emesis. Triamcinolone cream is sometimes prescribed to hasten healing.
