This could have: been a tick bite with the characteristic rash for lyme disease. He needs tosee a Dr. and get checked.

i have a red welt on the right side of my thigh and it's not a bug bite.. it's grown larger in the last two days and has a black dot in the center. it hurts to touch and is even painful to walk. what could this be?

Spider bite, worst?: This could be any number of bug bites.  If a serous spider bite you will have a 'bull's eye' around the bite site.  Otherwise,  a bite will have a surrounding area of redness and swelling.  Application of over the counter cortisone cream should resolve this over a 2-3 days period; if it persits beyond that, see your PCP

STD: You could have syphilis if you are sexually active and had sex with  a partner who has multiple sexual partners. Syphilis can start as painless nodule in shaft of penis which can ulcerate later.
See your doctor to have it checked and do appropriate test and treatment.

Unclear: This bruise like area may be where it became a bite or blood sucking insect of some sort. The itchiness is an allergic phenomena.. The purple mark is as the area is resolving. If you have no body aches or fever then just watch. If worsens see you doctor.

Itchy spot: Could be many things as need a picture perhaps. Best to get examination. Could be eczema for a an example

one week ago i fell in my home and hit my left flank hard against a table. i am not in pain but my deep-red bruise has barely changed color since then. it's gotten a bit "streakier" but is still dark red with purple spots. could this be serious?

Everything you are: describing is completely consistent with the "evolution" of a BRUISE!
Your "Flank" has the the strongest muscles in the human body !
Unless you have other symptoms/signs  eg: blood in your urine....the healing will take time!

: Spreading redness raises concern for cellulitis, a serious bacterial skin infection requiring oral or IV antibiotics. The bite with the red brown bruise indicates that there was some bleeding within the skin. You should be examined &amp; advised by a physician.
