a ct scan was done on my lungs a week ago & since i moved i  the procedure was  done 2x, 2 minutes apart. i am breathing out a gas that taste like what was used in the scan. its acetic, salty & it builds up in my mouth & chest like pressure. why ?

: Could be you could taste the imaging material they gave you during the scan. Some can.  Ask others in Barbados if they have had the same experience at the same hospital using the same contrast material. But should not be doing so a week after.

Breathing: swelling in nose takes 6-12 weeks to subside.Airway will most likely get better in 6-12 weeks.  Sensitivity is normal. If very tender, may indicate infection .Abx may be indicated. head pressure is probably normal. Decreased sense of smell common, should improve with time. Should be doing nasal irrigation with saline twice a day

2.If you have sleep apnea symptoms then needs to be evaluated. 
3.Alteranate nostril breathing ( anulom-villome) - yoga breathing excercise may help. 
4. Neti pot or sinus rinse
5. Avoid cold/ice water drinks consider room temperature liquids, as it tendens to increase nasal congesion/mucus.

Humidifier: Mouth breathing can occur mainly due to obstruction in the nasal passages which can be due to structural obstructions, inflammation as well as dry air.  The simplest solution is to try a humidifier at night.  

If you have any symptoms, like headache, snoring, gasping,  or sinusitis, contact your ENT physician.  Mouth breathing by itself is not a disorder which has to be treated.  Hope this help!
