Slow down: The purpose of breathing exercises, at least for meditation, is to SLOW the breathing and not to breathe deeper. One good example is 4-7-8 breathing: in for a count of 4, hold breath for 7 and exhale slowly for count of 8 with tongue behind your front teeth to slow your exhale.
