a freckle on my breast appeared 1.5 yrs ago. it was black & very round. just noticed its now brown & might have possibly changed shape very slightly. its remained flat. how likely is it melanoma? if it is, does flat mean it hasnt become invasive yet?

See MD now!: Trying to guess whether a "freckle" is malignant or not from a description rather than an examination is sheer "Tomfoolery". See a MD ASAP, preferably a Dermatologist who sees skin lesions frequently and can make that determination.

are you more at risk for melanoma if you have had breast cancer?

Accepted Answer

Yes: If you have had either one, it raises the risk of the other. Radiation of the breast also increases risk of skin cancers. But do not become a recluse. Do routine skin checks, see a dermatologist about any suspicious spots, learn to look for the features of skin cancers. Learn how to protect yourself from sun damage ( you may benefit from a Vit D pill).

large brown lesion on breast. checked 3 times by dr in 6 years. atypical, has small black dot.  told dysplastic nevis. is it likely invasive melanoma?

Biopsy: I am unclear if this lesion has been biopsied previously, or if the diagnosis of dysplastic nevus was only made by your doctor looking at it.  If it looks dysplastic, i usually favor completely excising it, as these nevi are at increased risk of developing into or harboring a melanoma.

if i have stage 4 melanoma, does that increase my chances of getting breast cancer or another form of cancer?

Not all that signifi: It does not increase the risk. So i would ask you not to worry any more than you already are if you have stage 4 melanoma. I hope you are not confusing it with level-4 melanoma which means non- metastatic melanoma(curable) as opposed to metastatic melanoma(stage-4) which is less commonly curable.

i have a birthmark ion my left breast, it's color is black and its itchy. i think it's an active birthmark since its getting bigger. is this melanoma?

See a deem: The only way to know for sure is to see a dermatologist.  From what you are describing, risk is low but you really need a trained eye to make the diagnosis.

recently had axillary dissection to remove melanoma in left lymph nodes. however, now left breast is swollen. what can i do to relieve the swelling?

Melanoma/axill disse: Best to see your surgeon TODAY. The lymphatic drainage from the breast is through the axillary noses, so swelling, cellulitis could be related to the decreased drainage pathways..

3mmx2mm drk brown mole on breast appeared in pg (now 3mo pp) flat,smooth,even color. it peeled in bath & black skin cameaway. mole now a bit lighter but still flat&smooth&even. could this be melanoma?

Mole: Hard to say, but why worry?  Have it evaluated by a dermatologist.

Hard to tell: ...With the info available but i would suggest you talk to your family doc or gynecologist. They can perhaps refer you to a specialist in genetic cancer risk who will take a full family history and determine if you need genetic testing. He/she can also advise you of ways to reduce your cancer risk.  Best to you and happy tg.
