what do drs mean by breast dimpling? i have dimpling only while lying flat on my back or when pushing in on my breasts. it is not there when standing?

Dimpling: Not sure if this is what you are referring to, but as part of a comprehensive breast exam, viewing the breast when bent over forward, having them "hang down" , ..A dr. Will look for dimpling, ...Which is when there may be  a tumor in the deep tissue that would pull the skin back towards it thus causing a "dimpling" appearance of the breast in that area.  See your dr. If concerned.

Breast Dimpling: There are many possible causes of breast dimpling, including cancer and a breast abscess.
In breast-feeding women, a blocked milk duct or its infection, mastitis, can cause dimpling. Mastitis often needs antibiotic treatment, so visit a doctor.
Fibrocystic breast disease, a benign condition that causes painful lumpy breasts, can also sometimes cause a dimpled appearance..

Fat loss: as we age we lose fat in our breasts. So it could be benign. But you must have a mammogram to rule out cancer, so keep your appointment.

Breast cysts: A dimpling effect is not common with cysts and this should be check out.  If you are having only benigh cysts try taking extra iron with 3 kelp talblets per day as this tends to reduce cysts.

A single large new dimple may be the result of injury and scar contraction, but you'd do well to have it seen in any case. The familiar orange-peel effect is also very concerning and should prompt a physician's office visit. If you have either of these, please seek evaluation without delay.

NO symptoms if early: Early stage breast cancer is usually undetectable meaning: 'can't see it or touch it'.  So you see that is why mammograms are so important: they can detect cancer in its earliest stages before it has spread or caused major symptoms. Please get a yearly mammogram early detection saves lives.
