Brainwave entrinment: Brainwave entrinment seeks to put you intoa puretheta state of brainwaves.  While it will not induce seizures, it has a significant downside risk.  In a pure theta state, information enters the subconscious without a filter of critical thinking.  It can leave you believing everything you experience in the state.

Usually not helpful: To the extent brainwave entrainment and eeg biofeedback teaches you to relax and reduce worry and stress, it helps prevent muscle tension headache or avoid triggering of a migraine headache. In general good sleep, finding outlets to lessen and cope with stress, and moderate exercise help headaches. Recently some patients have had relief using the supplement butterbur root 50 or 75 mg twice a day.

I researched info on: Holosync once and could never get a randomized controlled study.  It doesn't mean there is no benefit. Let's take holo sync.  The way to test it is to use music without activity underneath.  U would then do comparisons on those with the music vs. Music and technology.  The gold standard is the randomized study, no one knows who got the technology.  This would take a great deal of time and money.

Help (not cure): I'm so glad you used the word 'help' that I want to be as affirmative as possible. I've never heard of this Tx but it could have a useful placebo effect and many medical procedures take advantage of this. If there are no dangers and it will not deprive you of money needed for other things - see what it does. Remember that there are other options. It's NOT recognized as a Tx so be careful. Best!

No: No research has supported the efficacy of these treatments for ADHD.  The best therapy for ADHD is an appropriate medication and cognitive behavioral therapy for support. do all anti seizure medications work by slowing brainwaves? i'm in search of a new one because keppra causes my thinking to be too slow? are there any that dont impair cognition? waiting to see neurologist. wanted some input on which to try next

Wrong idea: NO antiseizure med works by affecting brainwaves. Brainwaves (i.e. EEG) are just a very crude noninvasive way to watch brain activity. They're just a test. Seizure meds don't treat a test, they treat the brain itself. They work at the cellular and molecular level. The only way to know what seizure meds don't impair cognition IN YOU is to try them and see.
