what exactly is brachial plexus neuropathy?

Pain: It occurs when there is damage to the brachial plexus, an area where a nerve bundle from the spinal cord splits into the individual arm nerves.  Damage to the brachial plexus is usually related to direct injury to the nerve, stretching injuries (including birth trauma), pressure from tumors in the area, or damage that results from radiation therapy.

Yes, quite commonly: The older you get, you have more chances of spine issues in back and neck from degenerative changes to cause neuropathy of varying severity. Most of the times, symptoms do come and go based on degree of bony occlusion and pressure on nerves. Learning to live with these "growing pains" may help you avoid unnecessary surgeries.

See below: The neuropathy could be from the nerve block, but could also be from the surgery itself. It is possible that the needle could have damaged the nerve, though this is less likely with the use of ultrasound. The use of retractors and surgical instruments can also damage the nerve. Please check with your anesthesiologist and surgeon to get their opinions.

i suffer from sudden onset peripheral neuropathy of the feet and nerve pain throughout my body. yesterday i fell at work and had a complete a-c separaion of the shoulder.my feet hurt more now.why?

Need a thorough exam: There are many causes of peripheral neuropathies. You need to see your primary care physician for a detailed exam, which will include lab studies to delineate the cause

can laproscopic surgery on the right shoulder result in vitamin deficiency, fibromyslgia snd peripheral neuropathy?

No!!!: Laparoscopic surgery regardless of which body part is operated upon will not lead to vitamin deficiency. There are different causes of different vitamin deficiencies eg nutrition vs inadequate sun exposure. Likewise, laparoscopic surgery will not "cause" fibromyalgia. I suppose that a nerve injury can occur leading to chronic neuropathic pain but that can happen regardless of surgical technique.

i injured l shoulder 4 july & still severe pain shoulder/neck/chest wall. no fracture or tissue damage on mri. i have chronic peripheral neuropathy post chemo 2007 & 2009, bilateral mastect. pls help!

Shoulder pain: If your xray/mri was normal, it's encouraging. I would suggest physical therapy as the next step but would leave the final decision up to your treating doc.

Sleeping on your arm: Puts a great deal of pressure on your rotator cuff and drives the cuff up into your shoulder blade and collarbone. It is akin to someone clamping you thigh for eight hours it is going to hurt. Furthermore your ac joint also can become inflamed. Finally the nerves in you arm get stretched and irritated.  Try sleeping in a recliner, wear a shoulder immobilizer, or sleep with your back supported.

EMG/NCV: By neuroligist or rehab doctor can answer that question.  Nerve function can be determined by that test.

For sometime : Your arm movement will be limited for sometime ,brachial plexus injury takes a year or two to resolve ,but you should be persistent with physical therapy
