Extra beats: Nothing to worry about. Quite common. Your fear will make things worse and could cause them to increase, yet they still would not be something about which to be concerned.

pvcs  in the morning when i'm very tired and after a bowel movement why? is this normal?!  usually 1 or 2 stronger felt ones i feel them building!

PVCs?: You really don't know what your heart is doing - you can't diagnose a PVC by how it feels since all beats out of rhythm share similar feelings. Please get a 24 hour holter and let your doctor make an accurate diagnosis - then treatment will be much easier!

Symptoms: You need to be seen by a doc and evaluated if you want to know what's going on. It may not be PVCs even. You may be getting diaphragmatic spasm and intercostal spasm feeling like what you describe.....or something else including PVCs. Can't tell from out here.......

When they: come in "runs" (repeated 3-4-5 in a row) or when they occur without 'coupling" (a stable amount of time) to a NORMAL beat!.    Your PCP/Cardiologist will be able to determine this after a period of MONITORING!

Benign: Occaisonal anomaly which is of very little importance for a young and heart healthy person. Bad indicator for a heart disease patient. Can simply be congenital, electrolyte imbalance related.

Cardiomyopathy: A weak heart condition thought to be caused by pvc's and reversed in some cases with the pvc's treated. Because pvcs and cardiomyopathy are frequent together, t his form of cardiomyopathy is somewhat controversial.

All deponds: Pvc in a young person with no structural heart disease is benign. In patients with heart disease has a different prognosis. If you have no heart disease and no symptoms no need to treat your pvc, however if is is symptomatic there are some medications such as betablockers that you can take.

Probably not: Alpha thalassemia probably doesn't cause pvc's (premature ventricular beats, a type of extra heartbeat). However, some thalassemia patients have magnesium deficiency, which can make pvc's more likely to occur. Patients who get transfusions off and on may be drinking lots of coffee, using caffeine or phenols in coffee to decrease iron absorption, to hold off iron overload. Caffeine can cause pvc's.

Palpitations: It makes a big difference whether these "skipped" beats are actually PVC's or not.  Also, it makes a big difference if there are there just a few in a row or intermittent between normal beats or sustained over a period of several minutes.  There are many good cardiologists &amp; other heart specialists in the Cincy area &amp; you need to see one as soon as possible.
