Benign Growth: I would not be concerned. This hard nodule can be a ganglion cyst or an osteophyte, most likely the former at her age.  I will only be cosmetic since cancers are rare at the joint or end of the bone.  The resulting scar may not be worth the removal.

Yes: You will need to know the reason for this enlargement x-ray will be the first step and if necessary ct scan or even MRI scan. Once the diagnisis is established surgery can corect the problem.

Bone scan: Watchful waiting  may be in order, but if lesion is growing a bone scan may be in order followed by a biopsy for diagnosis.

Sharp pain during: sleep would unlikely be linked solely to a bone bump. One must asses the soft tissue structures near that region as well as the joints close to that region, and the ligments that hold the clavicle , the coracoid and the acromion in reaaltionship to each other.  , as a start. The bone bump may ne a so called red herring, a finding that is not realted to the real issue or can indirectly linked.

Benign: Most chest bumps in that location are usually some type of congenital cyst or a ganglion. If there is a history of trauma or a broken bone it could also be a callus from healing fracture.

Bone or lymph node??: Hi! This is one of two things. This is your bone which could be inflamed. BUT, if these are lymph nodes, this could be CANCER. Please see a doctor of any kind this week.

YES: you must be examined, evaluated, diagnosed and treated. You have waited 5 years to ask this question? Get a lymph node biopsy and extensive blood testing.

Surgery: After evaluation by a physician, surgical removal the bony growth would be the only definitive procedure.  If they aren't painful and aren't causing problems, the best thing to do might be to leave them alone.
