Benign: Most chest bumps in that location are usually some type of congenital cyst or a ganglion. If there is a history of trauma or a broken bone it could also be a callus from healing fracture.

CT may be helpful: If the radiograph (xray) is negative or has a questionable finding, a limited low-dose ct scan of the chest may help assess the lump.
