Depends why: It depends why you have avascular necrosis.  The scaphoid bone is an atypical spot to be suffering from this malady.  Many things can cause weakening of your bones such as chronic steroid use, cancer treatments, alchoholism and other rare diseases.  The treatment will vary based on the cause.

Yes: Occasionally that bone does not heal, so pay attention to your doctor's-:advice-even with adequate immobilation that bone may not heal and ultimately need surgery

can i smoke pure weed or vape weed with a non-displaced scaphoid fracture in my  wrist. cigarettes is forbidden for the nicotine in it but i think weed has medical benefits for bone healing? but can i vape or smoke it ?

Negative effect: While eating Cannabis instead of smoking it reduces the risks associated with taking a toxin into your lungs amid smoke, it does not remove the effects of cannabinoids on blood vessels. Cannabinoids are known to cause hardening/blockage of small blood vessels which can increase stroke risk in any organ system. Decreased blood flow to extremities can dramatically slow the healing of fractures.

i just got x-rays on my wrist from a 7wk injury and the ortho saw a cyst on my scaphoid bone but cant tell whether or not it is a fracture. ill be getting an mri to tell for sure. im a little worried about a non union. what could the cyst mean?

: Bone cyst may cause pathologic fracture (spontaneous bone fracture without injury or just a slight injury). I do not know how heavy your injury was. MRI is likely done to make sure you do not have a pathologic fracture due to that cyst because the treatment will be different. Leave the cyst alone if no fracture or surgery to pack the cyst to promote healing if you do have pathologic fracture.

Depends: Generally, the screws or pins or plates are meant to be left in. No reason to remove unless causing problems. They can break, move, elicit an unexpected reaction from the body [they are a foreign object and the body may recognize them as such. If no problems, they are best left in.

Asymmetry: We are all slight asymmetric. For example, most right handed women have a larger right hand, a larger left breast, and take a longer stride with the right leg. Unless a severe injury caused a fracture or dislocation, the asymmetry was pre-existing.

Depends. : Scaphoid fractures come in many varieties.  If you are young and active, your ortho doc may suggest getting back to activities sooner with surgery. If you don't need surgery then you can be in a cast for 6-8 weeks sometimes longer if the fracture is slow to heal.

fell off my bike 6 wks ago onto my hands, both still hurt doing push-ups but more so the right one. it also feels stiff, all at the base of the thumb. my obgyn said i dont need x-rays but im worried about the scaphoid bone. should i see a hand dr?

: Yes how much does an obgyn know about wrist injuries? That type of fall is very commonly associated with a scaphoid fracture or ligament injury. Axial loading of the wrist as with a pushup will exacerbate problems with a ligament tear. See a Hand Surgeon
