Unusual: That is unusual for a 29 year to basically have severe arthritis on the inside of your ankle.  It is probably postraumatic, ie from an injury or injuries.  Don't hesitate to be seen for treatment options.

Avascular necrosis: Is when the bone dies due to lack of blood, bone marrow edema is swelling within the confines of the bone. Did you have any kind of trauma to the bone ?

is swelling below the cortex.  It usually is indicative of a bone that has been bent but not broken.

Subcortical edema: The cortex of bone is the outer layer.  Subcortical means below the cortex.  The term means you are suffering from bruising of the bone.

i have edema all throughout my leg/knee, even in my bone marrow. mri says large effusion, severe synovitis, mild tendinopathy. i've had 2 aspirations already without improvement. what is wrong, how can this be fixed?

: You should see a rheumatologist to have the effusion drained and sent for testing. They will also do some blood testing and likely be able to diagnose this issue. So, see a rheumatologist. Best of luck to you!!

gma- 95 healthy, beat breast cancer last year. today went to doc for pain in leg they believe its bone marrow cancer. what are her chances at survial?

Depends: Metastatic carcinoma portends a poor prognosis, typically. There are a couple of possibilities such as a plasmacytoma/multiple myeloma or metastatic disease would be the most likely diagnoses in this age group, if cancer at all, the latter being more common. If it is, a discussion should determine if she even wants chemo at all, as most regimens are very difficult to endure and she may not want it.

No: No, no health benefit. But, if prepared well as in osso bucco, it can be delicious when spread on little toasts.

Blood cells and fat: Bone marrow is a mixture of developing and mature blood cells and fat.  The precursors of white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets start in the bone marrow and mature into their final forms before entering the circulatory system.
