ive just had a mini tummy tuck with lipo of flanks. im 10 days post operation. when i sit my lower belly now makes a roll of fat over the incision and the incision tucks in. othis normal due to swelling? will it go down to make a flat belly?

Maybe: Scars will fade over time. It depends on how long ago your surgery was as to whether it will continue to fade.

Early : Early ambulation - I am for it and make the patient walk, usually within two hours.

But, i ask my patients to wait 2-3 days before going up and down the stairs.

4-6 weeks: I usually recommend to my patients to go at least 4-6 weeks after a tummy tuck before any vigourous exercise or strenuous activity.   Sex would put the same strain on the areas that were operated on.

Not usually: However if you have gained a significant amount of weight, you may be putting undue stress on your diastasis repair which could be associated with umbilical pain or you may have a hernia. I would discuss with your surgeon, you may need to perform diagnostic imaging.

Probably harmless: The laws against cannabis were written with an eye to politics rather than demonstrated health dangers, and unlike the other illegal drugs, efforts to show major harm from the stuff have met with very limited success. can a tummy tuck cause deep vein thrombosis? i've been told that deep vein thrombosis can happen during or after a tummy tuck. is this true, and if so, why? how is it prevented?

Deep : Deep vein thrombosis can occur during tummy tuck

preventive measures that reduce the possibility ---
   1. Pneumatic compression stockings during surgery
   2. Passive exercise of the lower extremities at the beginning and at the end of the surgery
   3. Early ambulation after the surgery (i make sure that my patients are out of bed walking - two hours after the surgery).

i have an open wound after a tummy tuck. my surgeon says to clean with soap and water and cover. i used betadine once and the wound immediately started seeping. my dissolvable sutures are visible in spots, what is the best way to treat this?

Tummy tuck: The benefits are a flat abdominal region with smooth skin.  The cons is recovery, risk of complication and anesthesia.  The benefits far outweigh the cons but only the individual can make that decision. Make sure to be seen by a board certified plastic surgeon.
