BUN/Cr: It means that your kidneys are still functioning properly to maintain a normal kidney function result. By itself, it does not eliminate any kidney issues.

Yes and no: A specific group of e. Coli (ehec-enterohemorrrhagic e. Coli) is responsible for acute renal failure, known as hemolytic uremic syndrome(hus), following bloody diarrhea.  Young children and elderly people are more susceptible to develop this complication.  Antibiotic treatments so far failed to prevent the development of hus.

Normal upper limits: Why is your bun/creatinine being checked so often? They are at the upper limits of normal for an "aging male" and do not suggest kidney failure. Good luck.

Not likely: What kind of surgery did you have? If it was elective surgery, your doctor would have corrected your hemoglobin by iron administration. In an emergency surgery, they could have given you blood transfusion.

Damage from some medicines, poisons, or infections. A sudden blockage that stops urine from flowing out of the kidneys (stones and tumors).
